FAQ

What options does Riverstone Dental offer to make dental care affordable?

We accept cash, personal check or credit (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express). We offer six- or 12-month interest plans (interest is deferred if payments are made in full during the time period), plus low interest and extended payment plans through CareCredit. We will work with you in estimating fees and insurance reimbursements before we begin any treatment, and we will submit insurance claims for you.

However, we don’t base treatment recommendations on what insurance will or will not cover, but based on what you need for your optimal dental health. If you decide to receive a treatment not covered by insurance, you will be responsible for the payment.

How does Riverstone Dental make dental treatment more comfortable?

We strive to ensure patients have a positive experience while in our office. We have neck pillows, blankets, and iPods that you can use during your appointment. We also offer nitrous oxide for more nervous patients.

What is the importance of fluoride for my smile?

Fluoride is an element that helps strengthen the enamel, preventing tooth decay from developing and stopping the early stages of decay from progressing. We use a fluoride varnish that remains on the teeth for a week after application and hardens on contact to prevent swallowing. If you are particularly prone to decay, we may recommend you use a fluoride toothpaste.

At what age should I bring in my child for a first visit?

A child should visit the dentist around their third birthday so that they can learn to feel comfortable at a dentist’s office. We will show them around the office and will teach them good habits for taking care of their smiles so that they can avoid cavities and other dental problems. At your child’s first visit, a hygienist will carefully clean their smile, and the dentist will examine your child’s oral health and provide advice for best at-home care.

Before their first appointment, you should inform your child what to expect at the dentist’s office. Today’s dental care is much more comfortable than it used to be, so your child doesn’t need to be afraid! You should also use good brushing and flossing habits at home so you can model positive habits. Try to find children’s books that talk about dental care in a fun way to educate your child and help them resolve any fears.

What is a sealant and why does my child need them?

A sealant is a plastic coating that is most often applied to the chewing surfaces of the back molars. These surfaces are grooved, making them difficult to clean and therefore prone to decay. The sealant smooths out the surface and blocks out bacteria and food particle to prevent cavities in your child’s teeth.
